Beauty of Serbia Montenegro:

Can the beauty be described as panoramic? No mesmerising would be the word for it. Picturesque mountains are a pleasure to the eyes. The lively Danube and Sava splash at the hub. The dazzling valleys, the embracing breeze, the gorgeous beaches, the sapphire waters and the charming lakes hook one to the place.

Visa Information:

The requirement of a visa to stay in Serbia Montenegro for 90 days is not for the following countries: France, Italy, Federal Republic of Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Great Britain, Spain, Ireland, Portugal, Denmark, Greece, Sweden, Finland, Austria, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Monaco, Vatican, Liechtenstein, Andorra, San Marino, Cyprus, Israel, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Malta, Poland, Slovenia, Lithuania, Latvia, Croatia, Estonia, the Republic of Korea, Canada, Singapore, New Zealand, Australia and the United States of America.

Nationals of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Slovenia and Croatia may tour around with a travel document or a personal ID card in the Republic of Montenegro.

Nationals of the Russian Federation, Albania and Ukraine can stay for tourist visits with a travel document and without a visa also in the Republic of Montenegro. Those under these privileges will be given tourists passes at the borders of the Republic of Montenegro.

Proof that you can support the expenses will be needed along with a valid health insurance.

Getting there:

If you have to fly to Serbia, then you can choose Jat airways which has regional services throughout Europe. The other airways that can lead you to Serbia’s Nikola Tesla Belgrade Airport are Air France, Alitalia, American Airlines, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, Lufthansa, Montenegro airlines and more. The airport is about 18 km west from the city. There are restaurants, bars and shops to spend the time. Banks, post offices, AT machines and Foreign exchanges are at your service. Buses are available from the airport to lead you to the city. Car rental companies like Avis, Hertz, Budget, Europcar, Dollar, Thrifty, Sixt, Mastercar, YU tim, Primero and more offer their services. Language:

Serbian is the official language. The Serbs, Croats and Bosnians form the major part of the population of Serbia and Montenegro. So Serbian, Croatian and Bosnian are the ethnic languages. A small population speak Albanian. English is a language widely used and well understood.

Notable Tourists Attractions:

Visoki Decani Museum: The Visoki Decani Monastery has been erected at the foot of the Prokletje Mountains in a pictorial backdrop. 12 km from the township of Pec stands this 14th Century monastery. It is said that its cathedral is the biggest medieval church in the Balkans. This monastery treasures Gothic monuments, extra-ordinary Byzantine frescos. ‘Christ carrying the cross’ is one notable fresco from the Visoki Decani. The original marble flooring is still intact and has wonderful Romanesque description. It houses approximately 1000 sketches taking almost all the themes from the New Testament, the original 14th Century wooden, iconostasis, sarcophagus of King Stefan and hegumen’s throne. This is also famous for the Narthex room that possesses breathtaking ceiling paintings. The Visoki Decani Monastery came under UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 2004. This is now a haven for a brotherhood of 30 monks who still lead the traditional way of life.

National museum – Belgrade: The National Museum is the oldest and a must visit museum. The museum holds over 4, 00,000 wonderful artifices, archaeological and historical works on display. The wide ranges of archaeological exhibits are linked to the Roman and Greek periods. Lepenski Vir, the Vinca statues, the Dupljaja Chariot, golden masks from Trebeniste, household sets from Jabucje, the Belgrade Cameo, Miroslav's Gospel, King Radoslav's coins, medieval frescoes, bowl from Vracevsnica, paintings of Paja Jovanovic or Sava Sumanovic are well preserved by the museum authorities. The museum well exhibits its 160 years of growth by preserving Serbian and Yugoslavian art along with masterpieces of European artists.

Do not miss out on the Sveti Sava Cathedral, Kalemegdan Park, Jevremovac Botanical Garden and various historical that prevails in the vicinity.

Shopping:

While going for products out of the ordinary choose from a range of lace, Pec filigree work, metal work, hand made craft work leather products and the Turkish coffee sets. Get meat, fish and garden-fresh vegetables and fruits from the lively town markets. Garments, household products and accessories can also be bought for a cheap price. Shops that sell jewelleries, antique products and lovely artifices are the most preferred by tourists. Montenegro’s Podgorica has an extensive variety of shopping centres and boutique.

While Euros are accepted in Montenegro Serbia uses the New Yugoslav Dinar. You can exchange your euros through authorized exchange offices only. Other currencies accepted for exchange are the US Dollars and Pound Sterling. Only some ATMs accept international cards. Credit cards are okay but traveller’s cheques are not received.

Entertainment:

The evenings are full of life in Belgrade. The clubs and discos around the city are mostly open through the night. The most well known mode of entertainment here would be the barges or the splavovi as it is referred to here. These are the clubs and pubs that float on water along the banks of the rivers. The DJ clubs here offer different kinds of music. The SKC (Student Cultural Centre) is a nice cultural centre where various kinds of musical concerts, exhibitions and debates are held. Skadarlija, a time-honoured place offers a taste of the traditional music. You can be able to watch street musicians playing famous folk songs. Catch a show from the range of drama, opera, cinema and ballet. The restaurants offer various cuisines including the country’s specialities and try out the cafes too.

Resorts:

Hyatt Regency Belgrade Hotel: This posh hotel is located within 15 min drive from the airport. 308 rooms and suites are available with smoking and non-smoking to choose from.
