Travel to Spain


Beauty of Spain:

Ethnic beauty of towns and architecture. Very careful art, paintings and cravings are examples of man made beauty. Nature created mountains that shine reaching for the horizons and revitalizing beach. The scent of cheese and cider spikes the air and adds spice to the experience.

Visa Information:

Citizens of the European countries, Canada, United States, Australia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Netherlands Antilles, New Zealand, Panama, Paraguay, Poland, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Switzerland, Norway, Uruguay, Vatican City, Venezuela, San Marino, Nicaragua, Andorra, Argentina, Aruba, Bolivia, Brazil, Brunei, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Estonia, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, Israel, Korea (Rep. of), Latvia, Liechtenstein, Mexico, Malaysia, Lithuania, Malta, Monaco and Cyprus do not require a visa to enter Spain. For others a short term visa is an essential for any kind travel. This visa lasts for 90 days in the period of six months. All nationals must have a six months validity balance on their passport. Proof of financial support, proof of accommodation is also mandatory. A valid health insurance may be required too.

Reaching Spain:

The Malaga International airport is situated 8km west from the city. Several airways service to the airport and Lufthansa is one of them. Other airlines that cater are Air Europa, Air France, American airlines, British Airways and more. By train you can reach the city of Malaga. The first train starts at 7.09 and the last train would be just right before midnight. A walk to the railway station would be within ten minutes. The city can be reached by bus (no. 19) too.

Language:

Spanish is the official language and this is spoken throughout the country. There are other three languages (i.e.) Euskara, Catalan and Galician. In the areas where tourists and foreign inhabitants are predominant, German and English are also spoken. Other languages used by the minority ethnic residents are Aragonese, Asturian, Calo, Extremaduran, Gascon, Occitan and Valencian which is regarded as a dialect of Catalan.

Places to Visit:

Madrid’s Museo del Prado treasures marvellous creations of Botticelli, Albrecht Durer, Hans Baldung, Fra Angelico, Van der Weyden, Melozzo da Forli, Caravaggio, Rembrandt, El Greco and many other geniuses. This illustrious museum holds several collection of wonderful paintings, sculptures, drawings, coins, medals and decorative works. Finest pieces of art by Spain’s Francisco Goya, Diego Velazquez and also of Heironymous Bosch (Dutch) are worth notable.

The Queen Sofia Arts Centre (Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia) nearby containing an exceptional collection of 20th Century art cannot be missed out.

Retiro Park (Parque del Buen Retiro):

Not quite away form the museum is this lovely escape from the busy life. An artificial lake – Estanque del Retiro exists where boats can be hired for a breezy ride. Puppet shows, street performers and fortune tellers can be found around the arena. The Park also holds within it a amazing Crylstal Palace. This place once belonged to the royal family now it is a lovely hang-out. Egyptian Museum: This museum in Barcelona depicts almost about all the cultural periods through the various exhibits. The Pharaohs culture is brought before one’s eyes with rare details to show. Unique pieces, crockery, amulet, terracotta images, sacred idols, an intelligent replica of the Rosetta stone and more are displayed.

Tibidabo:

In the district of Eixample Tibidabo is situated. As a family amusement park this place is loved by one and all. From the height, the mordern city and a lovely view of open above the sea can be enjoyed from this scenic location. It’s a praise worthy mixture of serenity and entertainment.

Old Town:

Valencia, a traditional and beautiful city should also be added to your travel plans. You can reach this town by the tram or hop in at the nearest railway station. The Micalet also known by the name the octagonal bell tower is the landmark of the city. The Cathedral of the early gothic style has been updated. Romanesque, gothic and baroque are the styles of the portals. The Cathedral’s museum holds many valued works. In the Capitulary the Holy Chalice from which Jesus Christ drunk during the Last Supper can be seen. This can be found in an interesting an scenis backdrop.

But this is not all Spain is a country where every spot can be checked out.

Shopping:

Valencia has nicely hand carved wooden furniture and hosts an International Furniture Fair yearly. Spain has souvenirs and other products for inexpensive rates however they are of fine quality. Madrid’s Rastro Market is one good example. Half of the market is open-air and the other half in stalls. Shopping here would be a total different experience. Well-know Catalonian garments can be secured for remembrance too. Leather goods and especially those from Andalusia are of sublime designs. Shoes, suede coats, jackets, fine rugs and carpets of fine quality can be bought too. And for toys, Alicante is the hub. You can also splash out on colourfully crafted vases, ceramic products, clay dishes, pottery and the laces. Admirable Sherries and wines are available too. And when in Spain, never miss the European boutique. Credit cards and traveller’s cheques are accepted but make sure it is in Euro to avoid extra cost in transferring.

Entertainment:

Spain is a very happening country so the ways for entertainment are also numerous. Musical concerts, dance theatres, movie complexes, multiplexes, operas, local bands and street performers too can amuse you. There are several theme parks and wildlife parks to check out. Restaurants with international cuisine, pubs, clubs and cafes are ideal for the evening. Swimming and water sports in the Mediterranean are a different way of having fun. It is Spain so don’t miss the legendary bull fights.
